After reading the explanation to the Multiple Intelligences Survey I could easily pick out which learning style I fall into, which is # 7: Intrapersonal, based on how I am in and out of a classroom. I figure out what my strengths and weaknesses, whether it’s in a certain class, playing a sport, or leading a group at camp. I know what I’m good at and I also can face-up to what I’m not so good with. This is helpful to me when I want/need to be of service to others. If I know that I’m not great at one thing, I’m not going to volunteer to help out with that part of effort, I will, on the other hand, volunteer to assist with something that I have a general understanding of or know how to do. This is to ensure that I don’t waste the time of the whole organization! I think it’s good to be realistic in this way and it will also help me to realize when I need help with something. For example, in a classroom setting; I can usually figure out what’s going on in a textbook, I read it, take some notes, study it… and I’m good to go BUT I also know that I’m the worst when it comes to technology (as some of my classmates have already witnessed first-hand) so I will need to ask a lot of questions regarding that. So this result just confirmed, what I already believed to be, my learning style.
What surprised me was the learning style in which I scored the lowest in, which was # 3: Spatial. This didn’t surprise me in the sense where I don’t agree with it, I just never thought about it before. This learning style is more about the abstract part of the learning spectrum; regarding graphs and visual arts. I’m not very good at thinking up ideas, for projects, and having them turn out the way I planned or envisioned them. I’m definitely more organized when it comes to schoolwork rather than artsy and creative. So my results to the Multiple Intelligences Survey definitely make sense and fit the person I actually am.
